Jeremy was home for the week, and he's a hot commodity. I'm glad that I got to spend some quality time.

The last thought, and the thought after that.

I worked on my paper as I packed--such commitment! such diligence! such a late paper that my supervisor won't recognise the latter two!--a t-shirt here, a paragraph there, I throw in some toothpaste, I insert a comma. I was a multi-tasker of academia and pragmatics: two fields that haven't spent much time together lately, save for my intervention today. A paragraph closed, a zipper pulled, and off I went. Manifest destiny! To the edge of America! Daring! Intrepid! Without my underclothes!

Love Mail

To: Joy
From: Michael

Tonight Phil was still here. I asked "why are you still here Phil" and he replied that Francy's Hello Kelly van was broken; blew a gasket; and he didn't know how he was going to get home.

Phil is a drummer in Hello Kelly, and had agreed to help Francois record a side project 2 days earlier. It was supposed to last just one day, but after he forgot his laptop at the recording studio he stayed the extra day for it to be retrieved. I hung out with him today and watched him play nintendo badly, before I went to work. He's a cool guy, always got a smile. Good teeth too. Francois was supposed to pick him up and deposit him on home turf while I was away serving customers quality sandwiches, so I said my goodbyes.

I got off the late shift and knew I wasn't going to sleep until 3AM anyways. I have a nice car with leather seats, and a full tank of gas. I volunteer my services. Francy is elated until I tell him that he's coming with me too.

We listen to a mix CD I'm working on perfecting. Francois sleeps, lying across the back seat. Phil and I talk about the fog and how cool it looks, government, and you.

We hit a detour and then an animal. I turn around to see what it was, but it apparently ran into the ditch, supposedly to die a slow death. I am worried about my tires.

I deposit Phil at home and as we exit the driveway, Francois looks at me with gratitude and I am happy. He says "Michael, despite what people say about you, I know the truth. You're a great guy." And he flashes a smile. A tired smile. He's asleep 1.24 seconds later.

Below are the Hello Kelly van (now broken) and Francois (far left) and Phil (far right).

So you thought you could dance?

Warning. Some might find this video to be explicit.

It's a rainy Monday evening. However, my friends and I are very creative. Don't you wish your girlfriends were hot like mine? Don cha?

Toni says we're like "three's company...a blond, a burnette, and a guy!"

I have also expressed this kind of creativity before.

Music by Justin Timberlake - SexyBack

Update - After deciding that one shot of Renee was way too skanky for our liking (secretly I liked it) I performed a little nip-tuck and switched some shots around. You'll barely notice it.

View From the Basement - A Collaboration

Kity Kity worked hard to create one of the first music video created entirely by videobloggers collaborative effort. She's a pioneer!

Some of my contributions were the cowboy hat of adventure, licking lips, and rain.

Oh, and the stolen lightbulb.

Am I alone on this one?

I recently switched over to spray deoderant. At least, until the bottle is empty. Sometimes new habits are hard to mix with old traditions.

Behind My Back

"I was curious (about the Macleans article), so I Googled him, and to my surprise Tyas is the exceptionally gregarious kid who works at a sandwich shop in Orangeville. The writer had styled him into a self-important asshole, so I could not make the connection between the happy sandwich artist and the conceited prick from the article. That was before I watched his one-year anniversary video..."
- Detroit What

I don't think that I've ever been written about so...so....well you go and see what I mean. Leave a comment, or accidentally break up your comment into two parts like I did.

Top of the World Hwy

I like listening to CBC Radio, The North This Week . It's a regional soft news show about Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. These places are an expansive and vast part of North America, overflowing with rich culture and natural wealth, yet they rarely receive notice by major news or entertainment outlets I have daily access to.

It's a familiar world, ruled and protected by the same government I call my own. Many issues Northerners talk about are pages out of my own book. There are major differences, however. It's remote and wild and untouched. The RCMP are everywhere. Town meetings include topics such as poaching and ice roads.

In a recent podcast (July 28), CBC reported that "dozens of young people in Whitehorse are fed up with the increase of illegal drugs and violence in the city"..."We're banning together to get rid of all the drugs downtown." Organized citizen mobs carrying chains, crowbars and bats are rallying to kick the dealers out...

I like their, "We ain't taking no shit from nobody," attitude. It's almost as though I've discovered the wild west...to the North!

I also one day want to drive and videoblog the Top of the World Hwy. Come with me, please. Finance me.
