My friends are not licensed medical professionals
Despite what my friends suggested, I don't have mono! Man, just saying that makes me feel a whole lot better. I went to see my family doctor today. He suspects that I have a variation of the flu that does not involve excessive respiratory inflammation. So the chills and headache and lack of appetite fit under the category of influenza as well.
He said I should feel better within a few days, and that lifts my spirits. Perhaps I won't flunk out of school after all.
Here's a funny video about me theorizing about how my humidifier could be making me sick, 3 days ago. While it probably wasn't the cause of my maladies, I'm glad I caught it!

Those humidifiers are just pools for bacteria to spawn, and end up in your lungs.
Make sure you clean it often.
P.S. Do you notice that Winnipeg water stinks in the summer?
I know, I totally skipped the instruction telling me to douse the thing in Javex once a week. It said it was bacterial resistant, i thought it would be strong enough to last the entire season!
I do not notice that the water smells in summer, but I generally do not drink this cities tap water without filtering it through a Brita. I grew up in the country where the water coming out of our taps was bottleable, thus, the journey into city life has had it's fair share of compromise.
How is it that when you're sick you are still so adorable? That's a skill.
You're well underway from just being gay to becoming a (great!) drama queen. And it's all happening so fast!
Keep up the good work!
(and get well soon)
@Amber: Thanks!
@ Piet: HAHAHA you are too kind.
I agree with piet. hehehe although re-reading his comment i would like to qualify it somewhat: remove "(great!)" from the first sentence.
as for the last "gesture," that was kind of awkward. but i am glad you are finding new ways of expressing yourself. it could have been worse.
Oh gee thanks. I just got 'wished well by extension'; called a non-great drama queen; and my peace kiss was humiliated.
Where did I put that arsenic?
Hm... your video makes me wonder what kinda gross things I'll find in my house that make me sick!
I'm gonna go hunting for gross things tonight...
To copy one of your recent comments on my blog, "That is soo gross."
Drama is all part of the healing process. Try whining. That always works for me.
hehe
i think "humilated" is a bit of an exaggeration and a symptom of being a drama queen, which really is just annoying instead of a quality source of greatness.
I have a different kind of humidifier,
but ya, it gets super gross sometimes.
I hope that you are feeling better.
I've got the same humidifier, and yeah, it gets a little gross. I try to rinse the filter out and flip it around frequently, and I haven't died yet. Do the instructions really say something about bleaching/cleaning the thing?
you might not be completely off about it making you sick...i sleep in a pretty damp basement (yes, damp for the middle of a winnipeg winter) good-ish for the skin, probably not so good for the respiratory passages... :S good to hear you're feeling better!
@ Tim: I am a guru.
@ IIJLH: Thanks :)
@ Policy: Yes, they say that you should soak it in a javex/water solution once a week. I've throwned the retched thing out now, but I'll be sure to follow the instructions next year.
@ MFTG: That must be why my complextion is healthy but my lungs are black!
That'd do it. Breathing in mold and such is generally less than ideal.
