Taking a moment
Continuing the in theme of money (a theme I hold so dear that it has it's own label), this evening I sat down and gave a good and hard look at my finances. I made a preliminary budget for the summer and the next 4 years, and have come up with some conclusions.
- I, based on my current income, cannot graduate without debt. Selah.
- In order to graduate without debt at my current job, I'll either have to curtail my entertainment fund and cell phone plan, live on the streets, or work 50 hours a week. I could also get promoted, or move to a higher paying job over the $15/hr mark.
- I never again want an entertainment fund of $20/week like I did for 6 months in Orangeville in 2006, despite the fact that if I did so I would be significantly closer to breaking out of debt. This is because people began to think that I was a seclusive drug-addict. I did not buy new clothes for nearly a year. I became a plain, boring, and bitter person.
- I'm going to go back to my cash only lifestyle. This will help me to keep the tightest hold on cash flows.
- My situation is not as bad as it was on this podcast on August 20, 2006, where no matter what I did I was sinking further and further into debt. Hallelujah!
- I want to teach English in South Korea after I'm done school. This is kind of random but I happen to know a small group of people from Korea living in Winnipeg. Last night a native Korean told me that I was the best English teacher he has ever heard, and that he actually knew about me before I knew about him. I plan to capitalize on that and becoming a teaching sensation! I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh mike mike mike. $20 a week for entertainment...that's certinaly enough for a movie and a lunch at Wendy's! hahaha.
I hope that you are still enjoying your time at university. Do not think so much about the debt. EVeryone has alittle or a lot and it will get paid off eventually. Enjoy this time in your life when you only have university expenses because once you graduate the bills multiply to new heights and the responsibilities increase as well. And you know Derrick and I, we are "budgeters" or "cheap" as my dad likes to refer to us as.
oh yeah, I did this blog quiz where you post 7 interesting facts about yourself so that the whole world can read it...if you would like to visit my blog and then do the same on yours...it's just something. A little spam quiz you could say.
:)
Yeah!! Do it up Asia style!
As I type this is it plus 3 in Winnipeg. But here in Cambodia there is a friggin' SWEET thunderstorm happening.
I love Asia...
=D
I agree. But becoming distressed is not what I'm advocating in my desire to graduate without debt!
This goal is not supposed to be terribly difficult, nor is it supposed to be stressful. The plan is to keep on working, which I enjoy, and making smart decisions with my money. It's a long term goal which, even if not achieved, is something swell to aim for anyways. Once I have my shiny new degree I'll be freer and less stressed if I don't have a huge debt load: Fact.
And hey! My entertainment fund I set out for myself is larger than what I pay for monthly rent this year!!! I'm being good to myself.
Bri: I'm going to attack you with questions when you come back!
woot money.
